Instructions vary based on the type of
security that users use for their Apple ID. Choose the type that they use:
Email,
password, and security questions
1. First
users have to visit to the Apple ID account page and click
"Forgot Apple ID or password." If asked to confirm the
phone number, use steps for two-factor authentication instead.
2. After
that enter their Apple ID.
3. Now
select the option to reset their password, then choose Continue.
4. In
next step choose how to reset your password:

To answer the security questions, select
"Answer security questions" and follow the rest of the steps.

To get email instead, select "Get an
email." To reset your password, use the email that we send to the
user’s primary or rescue email address.

If users are asked for a Recovery
Key, use the steps for two-step verification instead.
After
they reset the password, they'll be asked to sign in again with their new
password. They also might need to update user’s password in Settings
on user’s devices.
Two-step verification
1. Visit
to the Apple ID account page and click "Forgot Apple ID
or password." If asked to confirm user’s phone number, use
steps for two-factor authentication instead.
2. Enter
your Apple ID, select the option to reset your password, then choose
Continue. Did you forget your Apple ID?
3. Enter
your Recovery Key for two-step verification.*
4. Choose
a trusted device. We'll send your device a verification code.
5. Enter
the verification code.
6. Create a new
password, then select Reset Password.
After you reset your password, you'll be
asked to sign in again with your new password. You also might need
to update user’s password in Settings on the devices.
